Kamloops Naturalist Club

KNC

The Kamloops Naturalist Club, founded in 1981, is one of over 50 local nature clubs in BC. We are affiliated with the provincial parent organization, BC Nature, the Federation of British Columbia Naturalists.

The mission of the club is, “To Know Nature and Keep It Worth Knowing. Our purpose is to foster an awareness, appreciation, and understanding of our natural environment. We promote the wise and sustainable use of the environment in ways that will maintain it for future generations".

Our interests are wide-ranging and include bird and wildlife watching, and the study of plants, mushrooms, and geology. Throughout the year, we host a variety of field trips guided by knowledgeable club members who are willing to share their expertise about the wonderful variety of natural ecosystems in the Kamloops area. Some of the favourite events are the Christmas Bird Count, Swan and Eagle count in January, May Bird Fest, and our annual trip up Greenstone Mountain in July to track the wildflowers. We are involved in community activities such as garbage clean-up and engaging with City of Kamloops officials on issues of the natural environment and education. We provide a means of communication about field trips and other activities through our website (www.kamloopsnaturalistclub.com) and the Facebook page, Kamloops Naturalist Club. We are a non-profit organization with charitable status. We welcome donations and tax receipts can be issued. You may make your donation here.
